We do recommend keep your bottle upright. Our caps are not 100% leakproof.

Does this fit in an average car cup holder?

Typically, our 24oz flasks and smaller fit in most car cup holders. We recommend measuring the diameter of the cup holder and comparing that measurement with the dimensions of our flasks (located on the FAQ page on our website).

Why on the product page does it list "dishwasher safe" as a feature but then in the questions and under care instructions, it says do not put it in the dishwasher?

Not all of the Hydro Flasks shown on our website are dishwasher safe. Our new 2.0 bottles are dishwasher safe under controlled heat. We still recommend hand washing as it is the safest method to protecting the coating.
